LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Las Vegas performer Robert Goulet was listed in critical condition as he awaits a lung transplant in a Los Angeles hospital, Variety.com reported.
Goulet, 73, was recently diagnosed with interstitial pulmonary fibrosis. He spent 12 days in a Las Vegas hospital, then was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Oct. 13.
Goulet's condition is listed as critical, his publicist, Norm Johnson, told the trade paper.
The singer's wife, Vera, and his two sons, Michael and Christopher, have been at his bedside.
"Our friends have been incredibly supportive through these crucial times," Vera Goulet said in a statement released to "Access Hollywood." "My Robert has given tremendous joy to the world for six decades and he is loved by many people who are praying for him. He is a strong, positive man, full of life. I know if he is given the transplant he will pull through this. There are still many unsung songs for him to sing and in my heart I know it is not his time to go."
The singer first became famous in 1960 when he performed in the popular Broadway musical "Camelot."
He has won Grammy, Tony and Emmy awards.
