NEW YORK, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Hip-hop artist and actor RZA says Hollywood is now fusing the music of rap stars with compositions by classical musicians for film scores and soundtracks.
RZA wrote the scores for "Ghost Dog" and "Soul Plane" and composed the soundtrack for "Kill Bill: Vol. 1."
"In Hollywood, right now, there is a big thing going on with a fusion between young hip-hop composers and classically trained composers and I think that adds a new sound to the movies," he told reporters in New York recently, while promoting the new film, "American Gangster," in which he plays a supporting role.
"I'm in the middle of doing a film right now with one of the best guys in the world, Hans Zimmer, for a movie called 'Babylon AD,' starring Vin Diesel," he said. "We've got Hans Zimmer and his whole team of classical composers and you've got RZA and his whole crew of homeboys from the hood and we all be in the studio just vibing back and forth ... making this movie something different."
