LOS ANGELES, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Television star Kiefer Sutherland was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in West Hollywood, Calif., early Tuesday morning.
Sutherland, who is best-known for playing Jack Bauer on the Fox drama series, "24," was stopped after making an illegal U-turn and arrested on suspicion of DUI after a Breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit of .08, TMZ reported Tuesday.
He was released on $25,000 bail.
TMZ quoted sources who said the actor was "cooperative and mellow" while in custody.
He had been at the FOX Fall Eco-Casino party earlier in the evening.
This is the second time the 40-year-old actor has been charged with DUI in the past five years.
He was also arrested in 2004.
California law mandates that, if convicted, Sutherland must serve a mandatory minimum of five days in jail.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 16.
A representative for Sutherland could not immediately be reached for comment, TMZ said.
