Mel B happy with her newfound life

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- British pop singer Melanie Brown said this week that she is happy with her current life and had nothing derogatory to say about Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy.

The former Spice Girl, who had been mired in a bitter paternity battle with the "Norbit" star, said she is incredibly happy with her two children and her new husband, Stephen Belafonte, People magazine reported Friday.

The 32-year-old singer said Belafonte has gone through similar troubles in his life, a similarity that has drawn them closer together.

"We've been through a very similar roller coaster with life, friends and experience," Brown said. "You know how someone makes themselves a better person every time you see them? That's him."

Even when broaching the topic of Murphy, Brown's newfound joy for life kept her from berating her former boyfriend.

"I have nothing bad to say about him," she said of the 46-year-old film star. "For the guy that he was when I was with him. He was nice. Really nice. Since I've left, I don't know that person so I can't comment on that."
