Film icon Tony Curtis is slated to be honored Sept. 29 with Artexpo's first lifetime achievement award.

Created by artist Tom Zotos, the prize is being bestowed upon the "Some Like it Hot" star for his outstanding contribution to the arts.

A veteran of more than 130 films in a screen career that dates back to 1949, Curtis began a second career as a painter in the early 1980s.

"I still make movies, but I'm not that interested anymore," he said in a statement. "I paint all the time."
