LOS ANGELES, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Vanessa Hudgens, known for her part in Disney's "High School Musical," has apologized to her fans for a nude photo of her posted online.
In a statement this week, the 18-year-old actress said she was very embarrassed by the publicly released photograph and apologized to her fans for the situation, People magazine reported Saturday.
"I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me. I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos," Hudgens said. "I am thankful for the support of my family and friends."
The nude photo of Hudgens first hit the Internet Thursday, but was followed by numerous postings of other provocative photos of the "Musical" star Friday.
A representative for the Disney Channel, which is attempting to bring back Hudgens for several "Musical" sequels, released a statement Friday calling her posing for the photos "obviously a lapse in judgment."
"We hope she's learned a valuable lesson," the statement said.
