'Geeks' star lands role on 'Bones'

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor John Francis Daley has landed a recurring role on the Fox drama, "Bones," Zap2it.com reported Wednesday.

The 22-year-old actor is best-known for his portrayal of Sam Weir, the bookish little brother of Linda Cardellini’s Lindsay on the short-lived NBC series, "Freaks and Geeks."

"Geeks" is the acclaimed 1999-2000 show on which filmmakers Judd Apatow and Mike White and actors James Franco and Seth Rogen gained their major career breaks.

Daley will play a therapist named Dr. Sweet in at least four episodes of "Bones," the Fox procedural, which is set to kick off its third season Sept. 25.

It was unclear who Dr. Sweet might be advising on the show, in which David Boreanaz plays an FBI special agent and Emily Deschanel plays a forensics anthropologist.

Daley's other TV credits include "Boston Public," "The Geena Davis Show" and "Kitchen Confidential," another 20th Century Fox TV production.
