DUBLIN, Ireland, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- British rocker Ronnie Wood recently played a concert in one part of Ireland, while his paintings were on exhibit in another, the Independent said Tuesday.
While the 60-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist performed at a sold-out gig in Slane, Co. Meath, his paintings were on display at an exhibition at the Project Office in Temple Bar, Dublin.
Wood, who lives near Dublin in Co. Kildare, was already in the country when his bandmates arrived last week.
"I said to Mick (Jagger): 'What time do you get in on Friday, about five? Right, you are coming to my exhibition.' They take a genuine interest. Charlie (Watts) is kind of, 'I like that one, I don't like that one,' and Keith (Richards) is a bit critical. But they know I can paint and they say, ‘Go ahead,''' Wood said in a recent radio interview.
Wood’s paintings have been exhibited all over the world and have earned him millions of dollars.
Many of the works are portraits of rock icons like Jagger, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley and John Lennon, although he recently started incorporating landscapes, abstracts and dancers into his repertoire.
