Calif. Hall of Fame inductees announced

SACRAMENTO, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Computer whiz Steve Jobs will lead a baker's dozen of celebrities into the California Hall of Fame this year.

Also set to enter the pantheon of California's best-known figures Dec. 5 are baseball player Willie Mays, singer-actress Rita Moreno, winemaker Robert Mondavi, actress Elizabeth Taylor and golfer Tiger Woods. To be inducted posthumously are photographer Ansel Adams, comedian Milton Berle, actor John Wayne, baseball player Jackie Robinson, writer John Steinbeck, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren and Dr. Jonas Salk, developer of the polio vaccine, the Hall of Fame said in a statement Monday.

Billie Jean King, a 2006 California Hall of Fame inductee, revealed the names of the 2007 honorees on the Web site of the California Museum for History, Women and the Arts, which is home to the California Hall of Fame.

"The California Hall of Fame provides a wonderful opportunity to honor these leaders, and legends, whose imprints are stamped forever on our history and our lives," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said in a statement. "I want people of every age to be inspired by the stories of Californians who have shaped and continue to shape this state and the world."
