Van Halen, Roth to tour next month

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- The reunion of David Lee Roth and the Van Halen family of rockers became official Monday as they announced a 25-concert tour beginning next month.

Roth will be fronting Van Halen for the first time in 22 years, while Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang, will replace Michael Anthony as the group's bassist, Variety reported Monday.

"It's not like the Police -- we're not going to do one tour," Roth said at a news conference in Los Angeles. "We're all together with this. We have formed this like a brother team."

Wolfgang Van Halen selected the 25-song lineup for the shows, which kicks off Sept. 27 in Charlotte, N.C.

The Van Halen tour initially was announced to begin during the summer, but was delayed when Eddie Van Halen entered rehab. While he was undergoing treatment, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
