Griffin, 82, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in mid-July after a routine exam found a recurrence of the prostate cancer he battled in 1996.

The creator of “Jeopardy!” “Wheel of Fortune” and host of the “Merv Griffin Show” talk program makes his home in La Quinta, Calif., where he keeps a 250-acre ranch. He recently was the developer of an upscale equine community on a section of his ranch, the Palm Springs (Calif.) Desert Sun reported.
