Domino's lifelong home has been New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward, which was decimated by the hurricane and its aftermath in 2005.

Reported missing following the hurricane, Domino and his family were eventually evacuated from their flooded home. Domino returned to New Orleans to rebuild and to help restore the infrastructure and spirit of his neighborhood and his city.
