Crossroads festival DVD coming in November

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., July 30 (UPI) -- A DVD of Eric Clapton's second Crossroads Guitar Festival, which took place Saturday in suburban Chicago, will be released Nov. 6.

The chronicle of the 11-hour event was directed by Martyn Atkins, who's worked on concert films for Tom Petty and Faith Hill. Atkins used 12 cameras and shot in HighDefinition and 5.1 SurroundSound.

Clapton headlined the show, hosting former Blind Faith bandmate and Traffic leader Steve Winwood and The Band's Robbie Robertson during his set and also jamming with Sonny Landreth and with a consortium of Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill and Albert Lee. Other performers included Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, John Mayer, Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss & Union Station.

Comedian Bill Murray, a Chicago native, hosted the event, appearing in a series of costumes that mimicked Clapton's looks over the years.

The festival, a follow-up to Clapton's 2004 event in Dallas, raises money for Clapton's Crossroads Centre rehabilitation facility in Antigua.
