SEA GIRT, N.J., July 26 (UPI) -- Police in New Jersey said they think the body of a man pulled from the ocean may be artist Jeremy Blake but are seeking help in identifying the remains.
The body was found by a fisherman about 4 miles off Sea Girt, N.J., the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
Police are seeking anyone who may know dentists or doctors who performed dental work on Blake to help in the identification.
The artist was seen wandering into the ocean off New York's Rockaway Beach July 17, leaving his clothing, wallet and a suicide note, the Times said. His longtime girlfriend, blogger-filmmaker-writer Theresa Duncan, killed herself in the couple's East Village apartment earlier this month.
The artist's work is installed in several museums, including Los Angeles' Museum of Contemporary Art, New York's Museum of Modern Art and Whitney Museum of American Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Blake, who lived in Los Angeles for several years but recently moved to New York, also created the "Sea Change" album cover for alternative-rock star Beck and an animated dream sequence for writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson's romantic comedy "Punch-Drunk Love" starring Adam Sandler, the Times said.
