LOS ANGELES, July 11 (UPI) -- Court TV, undergoing a yearlong re-branding to reflect the type of programming the American cable network offers, unveiled its new name Wednesday: truTV.
The new name reflects the network's line-up of series providing first-person, real-life stories, network officials said in a news release.
"The success of the Turner Entertainment Networks can be attributed in a big way to the fact that we have built strong brands that resonate with viewers," said Steve Koonin, president of parent Turner Entertainment Networks. "With this new name, truTV joins its sister networks TNT, TBS and TCM in establishing itself a solid, identifiable brand, paving the way for continued growth."
In addition to its existing trial coverage and stable of shows such as "Forensic Files," the network is developing a package of new shows that will support the new brand and appeal to the network's target audience.
The re-branded network based in Los Angeles is scheduled to launch Jan. 1.
