SEATTLE, July 3 (UPI) -- Los Angeles hard rockers Velvet Revolver faced a struggle in making their second album, "Libertad."
The group, which features members of Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, started working on the album with Grammy-winning producer Rick Rubin but were dissatisfied with a lack of progress so switched to Brendan O'Brien. Bassist Duff McKagan said he worried that the quintet was "quietly falling apart" but said it rallied once "Libertad" began moving forward in earnest.
"There was a rebirth in our process of why we do this," McKagan said. "We just got so excited through the process of making the record and the songs evolving and taking life. We all started to believe in each other again; we feel really good playing together, and we've never gotten along better."
"She Builds Quick Machines" is the first single from "Libertad," whose predecessor, 2004's "Contraband," sold more than 3 million copies.
