Neil Young's wife releases own album

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 26 (UPI) -- Neil Young isn't the only person making music on his ranch in northern California as his wife, Pegi, has released an album.

Pegi Young, who's been married to the singer-songwriter since 1978 and has been one of his frequent backing singers, released her first album, a self-titled effort for which she wrote seven of the 12 songs.

"It's just sort of a timing thing in some respects," Pegi Young said. "I guess little by little my confidence was growing. It seemed like the next thing you know I was talking to (producer) Elliot Mazer, putting together a band and seriously going in to work in the studio and make a record."

Neil Young plays on the album, as do several of his longtime collaborators.
