'Dream Concert' features all-star line-up

NEW YORK, June 22 (UPI) -- Music icons Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Carlos Santana will perform in a fundraising concert for the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington.

"The Dream Concert" will be Sept. 18 at New York's Radio City Music Hall, and also feature performances by Robin Thicke and BeBe and CeCe Winans, among others, "Entertainment Tonight" reported Friday.

Organizers said the concert will embody King's teaching by bringing together artists from across genres, featuring a musical mix not usually found on the same stage.

The Washington Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation has raised $79 million of the $100 million needed to complete and maintain the memorial on the National Mall.

The King Memorial will be situated near the F.D.R. Memorial and in a direct line between the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials. Ground was broken in November and the memorial is scheduled to be completed in 2008.
