'Fantastic Four' fantastic at No. 1

LOS ANGELES, June 17 (UPI) -- "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" burst out on top of the box office receipts wave with $57.4 million in its first weekend in U.S. theaters.

The comic book-inspired movie from Fox pushed "Ocean's Thirteen" to the No. 2 position, Box Office Mojo reported Sunday. "Ocean's" pulled in $19.1 million.

"Knocked Up" held to its No. 3 spot with $14.54 million in receipts, while "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" fell from second to fourth in its fourth week in the theaters with $12 million in ticket sales.

Sony's animated flick, "Surf's Up," slipped from fourth to No. 5 with $9.3 million in receipts. Another animated movie, "Shrek the Third," was sixth, from fifth at $9 million.

Debuting at No. 7 was Warner Bros.' "Nancy Drew." The adolescent girls' book heroine drew $7.14 million in sales in its first weekend.

Rounding out the Top 10 were "Hostel Part II," down from sixth to No. 8 with $3 million; "Mr. Brooks," falling from seventh to No. 9 with $2.8 million; and "Spider-Man 3," down from eighth to 10th with $2.5 million in its seventh week in theaters.

"Waitress" and "Disturbia" fell from the top tier.
