No more 'NUTS' for NBC Universal TV

LOS ANGELES, June 15 (UPI) -- NBC Universal has changed the name of NBC Universal Television Studio to Universal Media Studios, simultaneously losing the acronym, "NUTS."

The name change expands the division's brand identification to include all digital media platforms, as opposed to an emphasis on television, TV Week reported.

"NBC Universal is the premier content company on the planet," said Ben Silverman, who last month was named co-chairman of the studio and NBC Entertainment, "and this name change reflects our TV studio's natural evolution as digital distribution expands and more platforms need premier ideas and programming."

The newly named studio also announced its first major programming deal since Silverman and Marc Graboff were named company co-chairs.

The agreement calls for Universal Media Studios to produce an English-language version of a Colombian telenovela, "Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso," as well as a Spanish-language version for Telemundo.

Silverman previously adapted a telenovela for ABC TV, turning it into the breakout hit, "Ugly Betty."
