'Apprentice' finalist literally gets fired

LONDON, June 12 (UPI) -- The candidate who decided not to take the job on the BBC's "The Apprentice," has reportedly been fired from her own job in Exetor, Britain.

Katie Hopkins, 31, quit the show, after Alan Sugar offered her a spot in the show's finale to return to her job at the Met Office, which has now fired the woman, The Times of London reported Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Met Office said Hopkins had not made it through her trial period.

"She didn't make it through her probation period. All civil servants have a probation period and Katie failed to pass those reviews," said the spokesman. "My comment would be to run through a few aspects of probation -- attendance, time-keeping and conduct."

But Hopkins has a financial cushion of $128,352 from selling her story and also has received further media offers.
