LONDON, May 14 (UPI) -- Rolling Stone Mick Jagger was generous with gifts but apparently was tight when it came to everyday expenses for the British rocker's family.
That's the word from his ex-wife Jerry Hall, The Daily Mail said.
"He always wanted me to pay for everything to do with the house and children, which I didn't mind doing, I guess, because I had the money," Hall told the British newspaper. "He's generous with presents, but yeah, he's pretty tight with the day-to-day stuff."
The couple was together for 23 years, producing four children, Elizabeth, 23; James, 21; Georgia, 15; and Gabriel, 9. Hall says Jagger is "mesmerizing on stage, and he's a great dad."
Hall, 50, is about to return to the stage in "The Vagina Monologues" in Southampton. She says she and Mick remain friendly, but she still enjoys taking a "little poke at him" once in a while.
"I had a friendly divorce," she said, "which is quite an achievement these days. I don't actually think that marriages have to last forever.
"I'm an optimistic person, and I'm quite willing to accept that these things happen for a reason, in a spiritual way."
