New CW reality show features farm life

LOS ANGELES, May 4 (UPI) -- The CW Network and the producers of "American Idol" are reportedly teaming to launch the new reality show "Farmer Wants a Wife."

Fremantle Media North America, which will make eight episodes of the show, is set to produce and CW will air it during the 2007-08 television season, Daily Variety reported Friday.

The show will feature 10 women who are reportedly fed up with big city life. They will be introduced to a country bachelor/farmer who can offer the promise of "the simple life."

The 10 women will compete for the bachelor's attention in a series of challenges designed to test their ability to farm.

"It's got a lot of humor in it," CW President Dawn Ostroff said. "And I think it's the right time to do another dating show with a spin on it. 'Beauty and the Geek' has a lot of humor in it, and this is in the same vein."
