Lily Allen drops U.S. tour dates

LONDON, April 19 (UPI) -- British singer Lily Allen confirmed through her MySpace page that she has canceled many of her May and June tour dates in the United States.

Reports had been circulating that the Londoner was planning to scale back her U.S. tour because she was tired, Britain's Channel 4 reported Wednesday.

Writing on her regularly updated page, Allen said, "I am tired, but more than that I don't think I have been giving my best performances recently."

Imbibing seems to be the reason for the lackluster performing.

"I have been getting really drunk because I've been so nervous about doing bad shows, and I don't want people spending money on going to see a show that isn't the best it could be," she wrote, adding she wasn't pregnant or entering rehab, as has been rumored.

Allen said she would remain in the United States to promote her album and start writing new material. She also said her appearances in Los Angeles and New York, plus festival performances, including Coachella and Bonaroo, were still on.
