Cosby offers advice to released convict

DETROIT, March 24 (UPI) -- Comedian Bill Cosby recently offered a piece of fatherly advice to convicted murderer Nathaniel Abraham after he finished serving his 10-year prison sentence.

The former "Cosby Show" star took time out from a speaking engagement entitled "My Life: Who's in Charge? in Michigan to speak with the 21-year-old, suggesting he take responsibility for his actions, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Abraham's job coach and mentor, John Cromer, said that the 69-year-old TV star talked like a father to Abraham, who was charged with murder at the age of 11.

"He was stern, but very, very fatherly," Cromer said of Cosby.

"As we know, Cosby's message is always about taking personal responsibility," he added.

The positive support from Cosby comes days after Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca joked on a radio show that bets were being taken regarding Abraham's future.

The Free Press said that Gorcyca has since apologized for those comments.
