NEW YORK, March 10 (UPI) -- The family of singer Roy Hamilton is waiting patiently as he was once again passed over for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Monday night will see Roy Hamilton Jr. and his wife, Maria, sitting in front of their living room TV, once again disappointed, the New York Times reported.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be inducting Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Parliament-Funkadelic, guitarist Les Paul, the Shirelles and the Four Seasons, but not Hamilton's father.
Hamilton Sr. was a boxer from Jersey City before becoming a singer with his voice that was described as "operatic."
"We just really feel that his day will come," Maria Hamilton said of her late father-in-law. She and her husband have been quietly pleading for the last few years to have him inducted. "Yes, we do. Sooner or later they'll get around to him."
Hamilton was discovered at the Caravan nightclub in Newark in 1953 and later died of a stroke in 1969 at 40.
