Prince Charles under attack in documentary

LONDON, March 4 (UPI) -- "Charles: The Meddling Prince," a program set to air in one week on Channel 4 in Britain, questions the prince's ability to be king.

Prince Charles is now butting heads with television officials over the program that calls him "too political" and accuses him of "meddling" in affairs of state, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

The documentary also says Charles has used "questionable" financial arrangements to run the Duchy of Cornwall, which is the estate that provides him with an annual income of more than $27 million.

Prince Charles's private office, Clarence House, is reportedly angry about the allegations and will release a "robust" statement.

Senior royal aides are expected to back the prince, denying that he has ever become involved in party politics and arguing that he is filling a perfectly legitimate role and merely wants to be "relevant" when making public statements.
