Actor 'deeply upset' with Blair, Iraqi war

LONDON, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- British actor and Labor Party supporter Richard Wilson is upset with Prime Minister Tony Blair over his handling of the war in Iraq.

Wilson, who plays Victor Meldrew in the television comedy "One Foot in the Grave," said he was "deeply upset and disappointed by the way the party had, by and large, moved to the right," the BBC said Monday.

Wilson made his comments before his appearance in a new political play, "Whipping It Up."

The actor said Blair's "arrogance, which makes him think he could run the country by himself" angered him.

The war in Iraq, Wilson said, was "a big no-no for me."

In 2003, Wilson and other stage actors, including Joseph Fiennes and Sheila Hancock, wore gags during a protest against the war.
