Maggie Gyllenhaal to award sci-tech Oscars

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal will present Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' awards for scientific and technical work Feb.10 in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Gyllenhaal recently starred in "Stranger than Fiction." She also appeared in "Donnie Darko," "World Trade Center," "SherryBaby," and "Monster House," an Oscar nominee this year in the best animated feature film category, the academy said.

Among the 15 awards Gyllenhaal will present during the Feb. 10 ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel is the Academy's Gordon E. Sawyer Award, which will be given to Ray Feeney for his lifetime of technological contributions to the industry.

The academy presents the Scientific and Technical Awards for devices, methods, formulas, discoveries or inventions of "special and outstanding value" to the arts and sciences of motion pictures.
