'The Queen' most nominated for Baftas

LONDON, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- This year's Orange Bafta film awards ceremony will have the British drama "The Queen" leading the pack with 10 nominations.

The film's leading lady, Hellen Mirren, has been nominated for best actress, and Stephen Frears has been nominated in the best director category, the BBC reported Friday.

With 9 nominations is the newest James Bond film, "Casino Royale," which features Daniel Craig, who got a nod for best actor. The next film down on the nominations list is the fantasy movie "Pan's Labyrinth," which is up for eight awards.

The Baftas are scheduled for the Royal Opera House in London Feb. 11, and does not yet have a host -- Stephen Fry, who hosted the show for the last six years, has stepped down.

This year's awards also sees several more movies than normal receiving five or more nominations.
