MUMBAI, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The Bollywood comedy "Carry on Munna Bhai" was named last year's best film at this weekend's 13th Star Screen award ceremony in India.
The ceremony was held in Mumbai, formerly called Bombay.
The comedy from director Rajkumar Hirani ultimately earned six awards at Saturday's ceremony, including recognition for best story, dialogue and editing, the United News of India reported.
Meanwhile Hrithik Roshan was named the year's top actor for his role in the sci-fi film "Krrish" and Kareena Kapoor won 2006's best actress for her performance in an adaptation of "Othello" entitled "Omkara."
Another big winner Saturday night was "Rang De Basanti" that won eight total awards on the night including best director for Rakesh Mehra and honors in best sound, screenplay and a top supporting actress nod for Kiran Kher.
Also during the annual ceremony, the film careers of actor Biswajit Chatterjee and former actress Mala Sinha were honored with both being presented the ceremony's Lifetime award, UNI said.
