Hogestyn of 'Days' files restraining order

MALIBU, Calif., Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Drake Hogestyn, who plays John Black on "The Days of Our Lives," has filed a restraining order over an alleged assault that occurred at his California home.

The court order against Carl Raymond Cheney comes in the wake of a New Year's Eve incident in which the Portland, Ore. native allegedly trespassed at Black's Malibu home prompting a physical fight with Hogestyn, TMZ.com reported.

Cheney allegedly ran at the "Days" star's daughter screaming of a demon possession that was once a plotline on the long-running soap opera, and then pushed Hogestyn's wife down during his frenzy.

After Hogestyn, whose character's recent near-death experience on "Days" may have played a role in the attack, and his son were able to subdue the man, police arrested him.

The Web site said Cheney is currently being held at the Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.
