LOS ANGELES, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- CBS TV Distribution has given the hit U.S. game shows "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!" another renewal, maintaining its ties for the next five years.
A King World Productions release said by signing the two highest-rated TV game shows to a two-year renewal, CBS has effectively locked both series in its programming through the 2011-2012 season.
The extension will reinforce both programs' current position as the two longest-running game shows on U.S. television. "Wheel of Fortune" is entering its 24th season and "Jeopardy!" is set to begin its 23rd.
Each series reported profits of nearly $70 million.
To date, both game shows have been renewed by more than 30 percent of local TV stations across the United States, including key markets in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.
