Jackman dismisses potential 'Batman' role

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Actor Hugh Jackman has dismissed rumors he is being considered for the role of District Attorney Harvey Dent in the Hollywood sequel to "Batman Begins."

IGNFilmForce.com reports the "X-Men" star has claimed that ongoing rumors that he would take on the role of the key character in "The Dark Knight" are simply fan chatter.

Key among fan speculation was a claim that Jackman would join the production after having worked with "Knight" and "Begins" director Christopher Nolan on the set of "The Prestige."

"Same thing (as 'Superman Returns'). I think because I'd worked with Chris Nolan. I think it was just fanboy stuff," Jackman said of the reports.

Jackman had once been named as a possible contender for the role of Pa Kent in "Superman Returns," another rumor that proved false.

The Web site said that other names connected to the role of Dent, who becomes the villain Two-Face, are very unconventional for a Hollywood production.
