Dr. Who, new assistant have chemistry

LONDON, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- The on-screen chemistry heats up between Dr. Who and his new assistant in the new season of the BBC series, airing next year.

A preview introduced new character Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman, tucked in bed with the doctor, played by David Tennant, the Daily Mail said. The two were in bed fully clothed and flirtatious.

Jones replaced Billie Piper's Rose, who was left in a parallel universe, leaving a sad doctor alone on the Tardis, his intergalactic time machine, and in need of a new assistant.

"Martha Jones is a medical student working at the Royal Hope in London and that hospital gets transported to the moon, as hospitals sometimes do," BBC One controller Peter Fincham said of the new character's back story. "That's where she meets the doctor."
