Ed Burns relishing new fatherhood role

NEW YORK, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Hollywood director Ed Burns says his new fatherhood role is "the best thing ever" and has already begun exposing his children to the world of cinema.

"The Brothers McMullen" actor-director told People magazine he has been relishing raising his children, 3-year-old daughter Grace and new 10-month-old son Finn, and is slowly introducing them to movies.

"Love it. It's the best thing ever," Burns said of his parental duties with wife, model Christy Turlington.

"We saw 'Happy Feet,'" the 38-year-old added regarding his attempts to introduce his children to film. "The seals scared my daughter."

While he has been devoting most of time to his new role, Burns has not avoided the cinematic world that has brought him fame. The director recently was on hand at New York's Soho House to introduce a screening of the 1971's "The Last Picture Show."

"It has been a film I could go to every couple years," Burns told People of his connection to the dramatic film, "especially when I am having a panicked moment of 'Remind yourself why you fell in love with movies and what it is you want to do.'"
