INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Erik Estrada, who was never a cop but played one on TV, is among the celebrities trying to make it as a reserve police officer in Muncie, Ind.
It's all part of getting ready for an upcoming reality television show -- and Estrada is impressive, the Indianapolis Star said.
"He's doing well," Police Chief Joe Winkle said. "He's 57 years old. He never stopped on the mile-and-a-half run. So we were impressed. He also knocked out the push-ups pretty easy. So for 57, he looks pretty good."
Estrada played Officer Frank "Ponch" Poncherello of the California Highway Patrol in the series CHiPs from 1977 to 1983.
