The Rolling Stones regain tour title

NEW YORK, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- The Rolling Stones have regained the title for the "top-grossing tour ever" with their "A Bigger Bang" tour, which brought in $437 million.

The record was previously snagged from the rockers by U2's "Vertigo" tour, which grossed more than $333 million, putting them ahead of the Stones's $320 million "Voodoo Lounge" tour, Billboard.com reported Tuesday.

Since fall 2005, "A Bigger Bang" has drawn around 3.5 million people to 113 shows, Billboard Boxscore reported.

The Rolling Stones also might keep their tour into 2007, making the $500 million mark very possible.

"I don't think we're done," tour producer Michael Cohl told Billboard.com. "There are still a lot of cancellations in Europe that the band feels obligated to try and make up. So I wouldn't be surprised if it keeps going next year."

The tour was not without drama, with brain surgery for Keith Richards, rehab for Ron Wood and some vocal stress on the part of Mick Jagger.
