LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. entertainment giant New Line Cinema hopes to get a series of six films out of Michael Scott's fantasy series, "The Immortal Nicholas Flamel."

Mark Burnett, producer of "Survivor" and "The Apprentice," is to produce, Variety reported. He bought the rights to the books at auction in September.

The first book in the series, "The Alchemyst," is to be published in May and then to become the first movie. The books involve teenage twins who become involved when Nicholas Flamel loses a book of secrets that could, in the wrong hands, bring about the doom of humanity.
