LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Three American Music Award titles went to the Black Eyed Peas, which was voted favorite group in Soul/R&B, rap/hip hop and nabbed favorite album honors.
Their "Monkey Business" was voted top album, and the band accepted the awards via satellite from Costa Rica Tuesday night, Billboard reported Wednesday.
The 34th annual ceremony in Los Angeles also saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers take awards for favorite pop/rock band and favorite alternative music artist. Mary J. Blige also took two awards for favorite female soul/rhythm & blues artist and favorite soul/rhythm and blues album, "The Breakthrough."
Kelly Clarkson won favorite female pop/rock artist and favorite adult contemporary artist, while Rascal Flatts won favorite country band and the T-Mobile Text-In Award, which was voted on by the public during the live ABC broadcast.
The nominees for the AMA's are determined by record sales and the winners are chosen by the public.
