Katt Williams facing Mich. weapons charges

KALAMAZOO, Mich., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Katt Williams has appeared in a Kalamazoo, Mich., courthouse on charges that he tried to take two stun guns on a plane last year.

The 35-year-old comedian tried to board a Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport flight with two Tasers in 2005 -- and while he was never arrested, a warrant had been sworn out against him, the Kalamazoo (Mich.) Gazette reported.

Williams reportedly had no knowledge of the Michigan arrest warrant until he was arrested Nov. 6 in Los Angeles for trying to board a plane with a weapon, this time a stolen handgun.

After his arrest, three other weapons were found in his luggage, and the comedian was extradited to Michigan, where he faced two counts of possession of an illegal weapon.

The Gazette said Williams -- who faces up to four years in prison and a $2,000 fine for the Michigan charges -- is due back in the Kalamazoo court Nov. 28.
