Overture Pictures hires show biz veterans

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Overture Pictures is working to produce and release up to 10 U.S. films a year and shooting for a roster that would include veterans of United Artists and MGM.

Daily Variety reported that Overture has been wooing various producers including John Malkovich, Robert Simonds, Fisher Stevens, Michael Stipe, George Tillman and Irwin Winkler.

The filmmakers reportedly worked with Overture CEO Chris McGurk and chief operating officer Danny Rosett when they headed MGM and UA, respectively.

The films up for discussion include Stipe's "Saved!," Winkler's "De-Lovely," Malkovich's "Ghost World" and Tillman's "Barbershop."
