TBS to launch 'Net comedy outlet next year

ATLANTA, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- U.S. cable network Turner Broadcasting System will launch a free comedy service on the Internet next year.

The service, called Super Deluxe, will make original content available to broadband Internet users in a format that will be more structured than current video sites on the Web.

"The online comedy experience today is largely comprised of random clips and homemade movies contained within a generic experience," Super Deluxe Vice President Drew Reifenberger said Monday in a TBS news release. "Super Deluxe is focused on original, television-quality programming, presented with a distinct editorial voice and in a highly interactive and social environment. It will deliver an experience more akin to watching your favorite TV show."

The content will include short videos as well as full-length TV episodes and will be available for viewing by wireless devices as well. It will also include advertising, while being offered at no cost to viewers.

Super Deluxe is the latest TBS broadband outlet and joins CNN Pipeline and GameTap.
