Norway's king releases official biography

OSLO, Norway, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- The anxiously awaited biography of Norway's King Harald hit the stores of Scandinavia on Thursday.

The book "Harald V" is the result of a 2-year collaboration with the king and Per Egil Hegge, a former editor of the newspaper Aftenpost, who was given access to private photos and archives as well as the entire royal family.

Aftenpost said Hegge writes about Harald's marriage to Queen Sonja and also delves into the role a venerable monarchy plays in the modern world.

The release of the book by leading Norwegian publisher Damm was accompanied by what Aftenpost called "a proverbial media frenzy" in Norway.
