NEW YORK, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- ABC News anchor Bob Woodruff is set to be host of a prime-time special next year about his experiences in Iraq, where he was wounded last January.
Woodruff and his cameraman, Doug Vogt, were wounded in a roadside attack outside Baghdad while traveling with United States Army Patrol Jan. 29, 2006. Woodruff -- who had been co-anchoring "World News Tonight" with Elizabeth Vargas -- suffered a head injury and broken bones, and went through a long recovery process at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
In the upcoming special, Woodruff will give a personal account of his ordeal and conduct interviews with eyewitnesses and the medical staff who treated him, Zap2it.com reported.
ABC said the documentary will "report on the heroic efforts of the military medical teams that have saved thousands of soldiers' lives, and on the stories of how those injured soldiers and their families bravely carry on."
