TV actress Mel Harris files for divorce

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Former "thirtysomething" TV actress Mel Harris has filed for divorce from investment banker Mike Toomey in Los Angeles Superior Court.

In the Oct. 3 court filing by Harris, who played Hope Murdoch Steadman on the 1980s TV series, the actress cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending her five-year marriage to Toomey, People magazine reported.

The 49-year-old actress, who has also appeared on "Cold Case" and "House," also asked that the "court's jurisdiction to award spousal support" to her husband be concluded.

People said that while the couple has no children together, Harris has a 16-year-old daughter, Madeline, and a 22-year-old son, Byron, from previous marriages.
