Schwartzman: Coppola kin love the arts

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Jason Schwartzman says he was raised by his multitalented family to appreciate the arts, but not pushed to pursue them as a career.

Schwartzman is the son of actress Talia Shire and late producer Jack Schwartzman. He is also the nephew of legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and cousin of actor Nicolas Cage and of Sofia Coppola, the writer/director of his new film, "Marie Antoinette."

"I don't boast, but I know that it's interesting that there's (a family of) people who all share a love of the arts," the actor and musician told UPI in New York.

"My earliest memories are of coming home and my mom being in the living room, reading Ibsen out loud and stuff," explained the "Shopgirl" and "Rushmore" star. "There is a love of the arts that I've always kind of been around, but it wasn't encouraged, it was just presented."
