Photog cleared in Diana-Dodi photo flap

PARIS, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- A French court has dropped the charges against a British photographer who was accused of violating the privacy of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed.

Jason Fraser snapped shots of the doomed couple in 1997 aboard a yacht, which prosecutors had alleged was a private place where the pair could expect to be left alone.

A three-judge panel in Paris, however, dropped the charges Friday without elaborating on their reasons, The Independent reported.

Fraser's photos shot off the Italian Riviera were the definitive public proof that Diana and Fayed were an item and were taken a short time before both were killed in a Paris traffic accident.

The case was brought by Fayed's father, Mohamed al-Fayed, who owned the yacht. The Independent said it was not known if he planned to appeal the ruling.
