"Horton" was written by Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Ted Geisel, in 1954. Geisel's classic children's works have sold over 200 million copies worldwide.

"Geisel had one of the greatest imaginations of the 20th century, and Jim Carrey's extraordinary talents are a wonderful match to Geisel's vision." Chris Meledandri, president of 20th Century Fox Animation, said.

Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino will head the production at Fox Animation's Blue Sky Studios, which plans to release "Horton" March 14, 2008.
