Rome exhibit to feature stars' portraits

ROME, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A Rome exhibit entitled Faces of Cinema is scheduled to display 36 photo portraits of actors and directors from the 1940s through the 1960s.

"Facce di Cinema" at the Palazzo Venezia, scheduled Sept. 12-29, is set to exhibit huge black and white photographic prints made by Studio Luxardo, a photography studio that catered to Rome's film industry in its prime, ANSA reports.

The show includes portraits of actors Marcello Mastroianni, Sofia Loren, Claudia Cardinale, Gina Lollobrigida, Anita Ekberg and Alberto Sordi. Famous film directors such as Vittorio De Sica and Federico Fellini are also included.

"No one is missing," said Tiziana Luxardo, curator of the exhibition.

The exhibit precedes Rome's new film festival in October, which will be opened by the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, ANSA said.
